It is probably to do with the school year and those formative years being inducted into the progress happens as you return to school to a new stage every September. Or maybe there is something about hanging out with a lot of Jewish folk for years... But
I always think of September as being the start of the new year. The summer is......holidays.... All bets are off. I never do much in summer it seems. I am not 'on the case' in summer.
But as the beginning of September looms, I begin to get that - start of a new term, back down to business, time for a new pencil case and new notebook - kind of thing.
Hub has gone back on his diet today. And I am ramping up my planning head to get stuff going for the new year.
What about you?

I get where you are coming from with that feeling of start of new term and getting back down to business. Part of me quite likes the idea of getting back into a routine when September arrives but I also find myself hanging onto the last days of August as I enjoy the freedom found within the summer. I liked your phrase about summer "all bets are off", I identify with that. :) What diet is your hubby on? My partner is doing a very low carb diet (well practically no carbs actually) and has lost over 2 stone in about 2 months.
Hub is also on a low carb diet. no fruit or anything. he is alowed lentils and beans and so on though. he has lost 8lbs in the last 4 days - which is quite incredible really. I do think he has some sort of allergic reaction to bread which really puffs him out tho. its weird.
