Tuesday 21st Feb

Yesterday.

What went well

Hub and I agreed to sell the xbox one.  We bought it for Bub for xmas.  extravagant gift.  Are we not the most generous of parents.  or the most silly.  its not even played with.  What a waste of money and space.

Bub really wants a new nintendo with a yo-kai watch game on it.  Anyway, he seems keen on us selling that hulking great xbox nonsense and replacing it with a new nintendo.

We have such clutter and space issues that its just crazy.  Am really glad we thought of that.  Well am really glad that Hub came up with it, as he was the main idiot in buying it.  He has a big THING around being over generous with gifts for Bub at xmas.  Personally I like to keep the volume of stuff down, plus the whole setting of expectations around gift getting.  I mean - xbox one.  That could be a teen present. Not a 9 yr old gift.  BUT anyways.

Hub and I are managing to get through the tit for tat rows about who is the messiest and who clutters the most, to the working as a team effort to curb the clutter and find solutions to stop it happening in the first place.

My decluttering campaign continues.  Though I may have to leave the loft for a bit as the house is a bit of a state and there are priorities.  I do tend to start things and not finish them.  Which is part of our problem!

I did yoga last night, it was ace.

Could be better?   I didn't do plank or meditate.  I could have done that.  Also I had plans to go to my work desk at Happy Start up  - but I didn't.

daily update

What went well

I survived!
I went to a brilliant meet up at the new coworking space I have joined.  its called the Happy Start up school.  And it seems very nice  - and happy.  Learned some interesting things and I have some things I want to try out in the world from it.  (must see my notes and take action)

had a great long chat with my oldest bestie.  in fact 2 long chats, one when my hub and son were out then they came back so we stopped but then I took bub to the park and we chatted on.

I told her about the no game and challenged her to ask for a pay rise.

dinner was easy and delicious.  we basically had salad and chips from the chippy.

bub went to bed with no fuss.

What could be better

well so much for any kind of 16:8! ha ha.  I am letting myself off, as it turns out I got my period so no wonder I felt shite.  I ate chocolate and cakes and all that sort of stuff.  Which I don't even eat normally.  No such lemon water to start the day or anything.  So will try again -  I did manage lemon and warm water this morning.  So there we go.

Felt overwhelmed by the whole decluttering thing.  Hub gets so annoyed with me for not finishing what I start.  And it feels like I am always trying and never really getting to done with this decluttering tidying thing.  Perhaps I never well.  to be fair the back room has been gutted and everything is in boxes and around the house, so that is not helping.  but the back room has not been decorated yet, which I was going to do, and just haven't gotten around to it.  which is one of the things I started and haven't finished.  perhaps we will just pay the builder to paint it.  it still needs shelving and a new bed.  all stuff that I have to do.  sigh.

So sod the feeling of being overwhelmed.  and just keep swimming.  when the room is done and the kitchen is done (that's the next thing to get started) then it will feel much better.  just keep swimming.

daily reflections Sunday 19th January

What went well?

Had a fabulous lunch at my dear friend, C's house today.   Delicious lunch.  Lovely to see C and their new house.  Which I can't quite believe they have had for 2 years already.  I am so glad to be back in touch with C again.  Life has taken us off in different directions I guess, or something, I dunno, but we haven't really seen each other for a few years - apart from at her hen night 2 years or so ago and briefly at a big lunch about a year ago.   When we caught up again in London the other week, it reminded me how much I like her and how well we get on.  So it was fab to go visit her house and keep that momentum going.  She is an ace person and a good friend.   More catching up there please.

Bub was super well behaved and Hub drove home so I was able to drink wine (and Kraken, which I rather liked!)

I am practicing doing one thing until I am finished.  So yesterday I stayed focused on sorting out the finances.  I had some bills to pay (oh hang on still have to pay the drama classes.... note to self in cal now) and I kept going in the finances department.  AH.  still have to sort the builder money by Friday.. nother note to me on the cal NOW - done.

And so I did that  yesterday  -and this morning I carried on.  I still have to complete feb up todate with  - I think Hub's Credit card deets.  maybe the bank deets.  I updated my accounts and invoices and have nearly done the expenses claim too.  I want to do that tomorrow morning so that can be sorted asap.  Anyway I was pleased that this morning I woke up, and then had tea and sat in bed and just carried on with the work.  I need to keep going with that until tis done.  More to do tomorrow.

I figured out how to download the bank deets into an excel sheet and that it makes sense to wait until after the end of the month to do this.

I drank lemon water first thing.  Had a good green smoothie for breakfast.  I did plank and 20 mins meditation today.  And I cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom thoroughly.  It really needed doing.

Could do better
I learned today that Hub gets cross if I don't ask directly for him to do stuff.  I learned that he doesn't understand why I get pissed off.  I get pissed off because he doesn't pick up the slack, or notice that things need doing.  He is cross because I got cross when I could have just asked.  But he doesn't understand that I am cross because I HAD TO ASK.  I think it makes sense.  He doesn't.  AND then I am cross because he isn't even trying to understand.  But there we are.  Its a drama triangle and doesn't really get any of us anywhere.  He doesn't understand.  Therefore, in future, my could do better is that  -  I need to ask.  More bloody often.  HA.

Food  - can def do better on the healthy eating tip.  I did OK, but didn't really eat a good dinner.  Two bowls of cereal and lots of snacking isn't brilliant and i can do better on that front.

An art Trip.

What went well?

Well - went on a fab trip to Tate Britain to see the Hockney exhibition.  We got their early so we walked from Victoria, taking in Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament on the way.  Bub says London is just Showy Offy - with its big old buildings and so on.  Guess it is.

Hockney exhibition was brilliant.   I love his work, so cool to see it up close, love the combination of styles of painting he uses in one painting, the mixture of almost cubist shaping, architectural detailing, and expressive and fine detailing in the brush work.  The light is captured so well.  The atmospheres.  Even in the crazy bold stuff.  But the Yorkshire stuff was amazing to see too, and his drawings? - wowswer.

Had a lovely lunch, and managed to get our train home on time, despite thinking it was at 4pm and rushing off at 3.30pm - and getting to the station to discover that the 4pm train wasn't valid for the ticket we bought, but luckily we were JUST in time for the 3.50pm train.  Dashed and ran but caught it.

Got an email from our builder.   He can almost do our kitchen before he goes away for a week in March.  Need to get the money accessible and sort out a start date.  Hub back late from doing focus groups so we will catch up at some point today.

Had a lovely relaxed evening, bed early, nice.

What could be done better?
Could have bought the slightly more expensive ticket and not had to rush off.  Could have kept a slightly better eye on the time in the restaurant so that didn't have to dash off.

Am thinking about my health again.  Weighed myself, and am back up past 65kg.  No biggie apart from I really don't want to grow out of my posh coat!! Its lasted so well for so long and it would be such a shame to not be able to continue using it.  And also, in general, i have been feeling tired.  Perhaps its age. But that doesn't mean I can't do something about it. Watched a video interview of a chap who does "total health" and while it wasn't a very informative video, he mentioned a couple of things that perhaps I could try.  Mainly drinking warm water and lemon for breakfast, and doing the 16 / 8.  to help regulate the endocrine system and support my body.  Anti inflamatory and all that.

So my do better stuff is around eating well and  - am going to try the 16/ 8 .  though ha! not today as already have had 2 cups of milky tea.  And I haven't really thought it through at all.  I might need to plan a little.

I had forgotten to email P from BCC.  Which is annoying as I had this nagging feeling that I had.  And I should have called her on Wednesday like I planned to.  But I didn't.  So need to follow my plans.

getting daily again

What went well

I ate a healthy breakfast.
I did my plank
I meditated for 20 minutes
Bub's bedtime went well.  He had a bath for about an hour (early bath) this is when I got my meditation in! and then after that he had dinner.  Then to bed and did reading aloud and I read to him.  Straight to sleep.  No fuss.  all completely lovely and relaxesd.
I did some decluttering  - a big folder emptied, some old pens cleared out and taken to oxfam - a bag of old bills and paper work to the recycling.
I did a bit of tidying - put the box files on the shelves where the private eyes had been.  Tidied up the box of cards (lots of Xmas cards lurking to be used for school things next year - or maybe just give them to charity? or recycling? I dunno.  They are not particularly nice cards or anything)
Printed out the Croatian contract. (need to get a counter signatory)

Could do better?

Wished i hadn't eaten the pain au raisin.  Felt bit crap afterwards
Bit of a meh day. Not enough purpose.
Got grumpy with Bub for not really enjoying the pottery class we went to.  Not that he didn't try, but that he got angry that he found it tricky and then sort of sabotaged his pot. And afterwards complained that he was rubbish at it.  Felt like a whole load of a waste of time and money and I got cross.  I am not sure how to have done this better.  Kept in a better mood is all I guess.
Ask Hub  - if he is working, or how much he is working (when we are all in the house and clattering about) and check in with him to see if we have to go out or perhaps he could go work somewhere else)

a bit of a review -

What has gone well recently (I might have missed a day here, so....)

I have found a co-working space  - two infact that I really like the sound of.  We have booked in the ktichen to be done soon, so that will be 3 weeks of hell.  And we will need to work out of the house.  Also - I want to broaden my network.  So a co-working space works well for both of those reasons.  One is Jane's Place and one is The Happy Start Up.

I have  - in my head committed to an online network mastermind.  I shall try it and see, again to broaden my network.  I like the lass who runs it, Ebonie Allard and so am hoping I will like the other folk in the network.

TOday is the final taster session for the Wild Art Journaling.  I am feeling very nervous that people will come and like it.  I need to just get over that and give it all I can.  I am seeing 10 beautiful souls signed up to do the course and it being a wonderful beautiful experience for everyone involved.

I need 5  - I have 4 so far and 2  weeks to go.  Any ideas on how to publicise it more widely in Sussex most appreciated.

I have also begun to look at flights and times for 2 trips.  One to Rhodes to see a retreat centre and one to Croatia - to recce for a retreat (and to see our HOUSE!!) and the holidays for the year are stacking up nicely and inexpensively!! Yes!

Have hired the wonderful Sophie Sheinwald to come and photograph me doing Wild Art Journaling.  Going to be working with her as her Business Coach over the next few months too.  Brilliant.

I did plank and 20 minutes meditation yesterday too

Even Better If
I want to reinstate my standing up tall and straight mindfulness bell.  Saw some photos of stooping. I don't want to be a stooper!  Even more effort with regard to publicising the Wild Art Journaling.

review process daily.

What has gone well lately?

We got our builder chap to come and look at the kitchen plans and he is going to hack the B&Q design and buy cheaper independent elements where he can ( eg the work top ) He'll be coming back to us with Prices next week and the work will start asap and take 2-3weeks (of hell but a new kitchen at the end of it)

I got a shed load of boxes and old stuff to the recycling and the dump (part of the decluttering campaign)
Made some space on the shelves so I can move the bedrooms around and create my office in our bedroom and Ian's office in my work room. Plan to put the cycle in there instead of the bedroom so that its annoying to him not me! ha!!

Spoke to Bro about the house in Croatia and he has a fab idea to create and open plan living space at the top of the house.  Love it

Had a great catch up with Rozynna Fielding and we are planning a trip to Croatia in May - oh yes we are!

Hub seems cool about me going to Greece on a Recce too.

I feel better.  better than anything that.  got my beans back.

What could go better.   Well the Cleaner didn't go well.  She forgot me.  Maybe put a hold on the cleaner until we have a new kitchen am thinking now.

Monday, 6 February 2017

a daily update. Monday 6th February

Just to start with.  I feel like pants.  I mean I don't feel good.  I mean I feel totally and utterly underparr.  Wash out city.

So  -what went well today?

Luckily I didn't have to do any work.  So I was able to rest up.  I made some parsnip soup which was delicious and tasty and felt nourishing.  My husband went out and bought fish and chips for dinner so I didn't have to cook dinner or wash up or anything like that. Fish and chips felt warm and filling and tasty.

This morning I got up early and helped out some fellow parents by having their son over before school.  7am he came as his mum has to get to work as a teacher.  The boys played very happily.  I felt good to help out, and Bub had a laugh.

I had a call with one of my coaching clients - a really really lovely chap, whom it seems I have helped, which made me really happy.  Made my day in fact.

I found someone who works as a cleaner who can come around tomorrow and let me know what she thinks.  she has a 2 hour minimum pw, so I guess she will fill her time.  We only have a tiny house.  So that's a task done too.  I decided yesterday that I need some support in this house keeping mallarky and this is my first step to arranging myself more back up.  Accounting is still in my court but that would be next.

What could be done better.  Health could be better.   I did my best today.  I perhaps could have slept even more.  Trying to do the stuff I did felt too much.  But there we are. Am sincerely hoping that tomorrow I will wake up feeling less utterly drained of all energy.  I drifted into pointless posts about politics.  I find it all too much quite frankly.  People who like Trump baffle me beyond measure. Those who say the "liberal controlled media" when I see a media that at least has grounding in the facts.  Why do they hate him?  Because he is an arse of the highest degree.  People who say that he is going to be good for America? what in the long run - but after the pipelines and walls have been built?  Anyway - I get angry and this doesn't help me.  So I banned myself again.  I am on a 24 hour ban.   And generally speaking I want to avoid it as much as possible.  So tomorrow, more avoiding of FB and hopefully feeling less awful.

daily reflections

SO.  What went well today?

I had so many great meeting with people at Bristol.  They have and are really taking things on board and flying with it and its great to see.  I feel that I helped them all.  I felt really good about all the work I did.

All the transport and timings worked well and I wasn't late at any point for anyone.

I managed to go to the cinema (saw Jackie) and eat a good meal.  I did plank (30 plank challenge!) and I will do my meditation in a bit  - after this.

I didn't go on FB all day ( though I just spoiled that by having a peek.  Didn't get dragged into it though!)

What could be done better?

I want to have a whole day with no FB at all.  So more effort me!  My work went so well, I am not sure I could have done it better.  Which is good.  I did learn that the circle of influence and even good day bad day is done better by an experienced facilitator.  And perhaps we need give more guidance on how to deliver it well.

Reflection time

What went well

Good meeting this morning with a team in Bristol.  Well done them.  Great progress.  Lovely lunch and a good chat about nurturing trusted relationships that support us, and the differences in the ways that different genders tend to operate in that field of relationship building.  Mostly I avoided facebook and twitter.  I managed to have some good work conversations and set stuff up for tomorrow and Thursday.  I did a lot of walking, my plank and I will do my meditation soon.

What could go better tomorrow

Stay the hell away from FB.  I slipped in and got riled again.  I was going to say why and what have you.  But I want to leave it there.  Where it is.  Its not gone from my head though.  I want it to stop.

When really I live in one of the most wonderful places on earth.  And I have fabulous intelligent and kind friends.  Politics.  eh.  Religion and Politics mixed together.  Jesus wept.  Indeed.

I did do my 20 minutes meditation.  yay.  go me.

I have started reading Black Swan Green by David Mitchell.  So far, really really enjoying it.  Stayed up too late reading!
