Innit tho. General Election 2017. I wish for a collation of some sort. Pray that their hubris is marred deeply and its no such thing as a runaway victory. Wild Art Journaling Summer Sessions
I am so looking forward to seeing the actual garden there in full summer glory. When I did the course last it was February and March - not the best time of year for a garden. So I am really looking forward to being in that delightful light and airy garden cabin in the sunshine with the leaves and the flowers and plants blooming all around!
I have devised a feedback form for Wild Art Journaling and I sent it out to all the people who have been along. So far I have got 5 responses back - and some really lovely testimonials.
So - given that my course starts on June 9th and I have a taster session on next Friday. Over the next couple of weeks I am going to be sharing some of the testimonials to entice as many people as I can to come and kick start their creativity and find likeminded friends!

Interested in the Future?
I really like "futures" or "futurology". I think its because Einstein said "I am very interested in the future, because I intend to spend the rest of my life there". And I thought, that's genius. I like the fact that the future means we get to use our imagination (I think Einstein said something about that being better than knowledge too, - I like Einstein) And also this lass made me laugh with her irreverent delivery. She is called Nathalie Kane and she gave this speech at She Says in Brighton. At least i think it was in Brighton. I saw it on tinternet innit.

daily reflections
What is working
I have a good internet connection. Stari Grad is lovely as is Hvar. The journey to and from Hvar was simple and easy. We ate a good meal for a cheap price last night and met some lovely locals. My brother is very popular here. I had some great talks with Rozynna yesterday about spirituality and the divine spark within us all.
I was reminded of the Richard Bach quote that meant a lot to me as a 20 year old.
You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it come true
(you may have to work at it however)
This helped me achieve things that I did not initially think were possible.
We both agree on this notion that we are all creating our own lives. We create our reality. We are all creative. So Creating your Brilliant life. Is our retreat theme.
Rozynna is a mindset and success coach. So I am lucky to be here with her.
It is so lovely to see Amanda and Chris so happy in their new venture. That it is going so well. They have learned to hit the perfect sweet spot for them. Offering an exceptional place to stay and exceptional hospitality for those who choose to stay with them. They are the most expensive B&B here, but also not the most expensive rates on the Island. The price reflects the customers who will appreciate, and really really appreciate their offering. And so everyone is really happy.
I am fit and healthy. I have a loving supportive husband and a delightful healthy son whom I love very much. It is a sunny day here in Croatia. I am insanely lucky to have a share in a house here which will mean I can come here again and again and again.
There are strawberries which are fresh and local and for sale at the market.
I am going to visit Split again and its a totally beautiful city.
I am very grateful for all that I have
Room for improvement
My business can be improved. I can be earning more money in better more efficient ways.
Our house needs decorating and the back room finishing. Its been 6 months for goodness sake.

daily reflection. what I am learning
I am learning LOADs at the moment.
What is sticking in the forefront of my mind just now is the notion - that "behind the (insert; complaining, annoying thing that person is doing, the bitching the - whatever)" is a good intention.
Its a reframe thing. Firstly I read about a reframe in the way that women see men. There is a lot of eye rolling around the way men - especially husbands - behave. Things that we cannot understand. Like how come he just doesn't see all the things that need doing, that I see and do. That's my one, but I am not alone, there are many similar things. Another one for me, is that when we have a big house tidy up, my husband seemed to need instructions. Tell us what to do. He would say.
So annoying. And then I read this book which posits that men see things differently, so they need clearer instructions. No hinting, no passive, "wouldn't it be nice if....." It didn't work and it lead to arguments.
I discovered - while playing this thing called the "No Game" which is where you get points for getting "No's" to your requests. You go out into the world and ask for things you want, seeking "No" as an answer. It was weird. If I asked directly for stuff, my husband just said Yes. I never did get many "no" responses. AND I completely understood - finally - what he meant by being passive agressive. I am not still sure i was being agressive, but i understood the passive tense of my requests and why this was annoying to him. Massive lightbulb moment. "will you wash this up please?" works. "it would be nice if i didn't have to ask you to wash up after you" doesn't.
And in the workplace - yesterday I learned loads of things. I want to try and capture them all here.
In the work place. If - in a team - you have at toxic apple - causing bitching and complaining and bad feeling. Look for the good intention behind it. It totally reframes the whole issue in a positive light.
to assume that there is a good reason for something. and to guess at what it may be. is that right, or is there another good reason?
also that in a team. there are the individuals, then there is the sum of the individuals, the context has its own identity. This helps people speak about a team and its members without refering to anyone individually. We create something different when we are in a team
There is work by someone called JoHn Cott?? (check my notes) which in a team -how will we behave when things are going bad. the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse are
Blame
Defensiveness
Contempt
Stonewalling
these positions can lead to a rapid downward spiral and can be the reason that marriage end in stony silence and contempt.
and when things go wrong or we are in a disagreement, we have a preferred option. We all know what it is, doing work with a team you can get people to stand on their preference. And then you can get them to choose the preference of the team. its a different dynamic. I would feel nervous about doing this and not being experienced in it. but - you can see how it calls out the behaviour and names it, in a non judgemental way. And in naming, and being aware, then you can choose other options.
How cool is that!
I also met the lady who wrote this article about the 80/20 rule. And how to prioritise. She said something that stuck in my mind. That we KNOW what is important. Only we have to stop and be quiet enough to hear it sometimes.
What is important. Is a big and important question when considering prioritisation. And values work matters here. Also the venn diagram of "what I want" vs "what my job requires of me" and in the what my job requires of me - the corporate objectives -are we clear on that. _We can ask -where do I add most value?
